My Skin Care Routine

My journey to perfect skin started when I was a teenager. I was constantly breaking out, and was very insecure about it. I tried everything to get my skin to clear up, which resulted in my skin becoming very dry because of the harsh products I was using. Flash forward to 2019, at 22 years old, I have now found a skin care regimen that works best for me.

I think skin care is the most important part of your beauty routine because it helps to keep your skin looking bright and youthful, and that above all else is what shines through your makeup. On the rare occasion I do break out, I am always very self-conscious, and think everyone is zeroing in on my acne when in reality most people probably don’t even notice. That being said, I am going to share my skincare routine with you, and hopefully, it’ll help to clear up your skin and boost your confidence like it did to me.

Step One

The first step in my skin care routine is to take my makeup off (obviously) with a makeup wipe. I just get mine from the grocery store, nothing fancy. I do make sure to get the fragrance free ones, but that’s just a personal preference. After I take my makeup off, I go in with the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads ($32 for 60 pads). They help to exfoliate, tone and brighten. I 100% believe that these alone keep my skin clear, so I love them!

Step Two

After I let that dry for a second, I take a pump of the Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream ($64), and dab it around my eyes. [I do this with very light pressure! Your under eyes are very delicate so you need to be gentle.] This eye cream is supposed to help brighten, and reduce the look of wrinkles. I don’t have any wrinkles yet, but I am trying my best to avoid them for as long as possible. I do believe this eye cream helps to brighten, as my under eyes don’t look quite as dark as they used to be. If you have any suggestions on how to combat dark circles and wrinkles, let me know!

Step Three

I then use the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum ($90). I take two pumps of this and apply this to my face, avoiding my eye area. This is supposed to help with unevenness in your skin tone, and with dullness by brightening your complexion. This serum is definitely expensive, and one that hurts to repurchase, but when I go without using it, I break out. So until I find something better, this is going to stay in my rotation.

Step Four

I follow this with the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Moisturizer ($39), which I just picked up so I am still testing this out. I love how this moisturizer smells though, it reminds me of watermelon Jolly Ranchers! This moisturizer is supposed to be good for oily to combination skin types. My skin was once very dry but has now developed into being a combination of oily and dry. My T-zone gets oily, mainly my nose, and after a long day of wearing makeup, I start to get shiny. I need to find a product to help combat that, so if anyone has any suggestions, let me know!

Step Five

Last but not least, I follow all this with the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream ($12 for the small size) for an extra boost of hydration. I have used this Ultra Repair Cream for a while now and I really love it. I use it every day under my makeup and again at night to finish off my skincare routine.

Overall, I really love all of these products and don’t think I could live without any of them. I will update on the Glow Recipe moisturizer once I have tested it out for a while, but for now, I like it, along with the smell!! So yummy. The skin care products I use may be pricy, but, to me, they are worth every penny because they help keep my skin clear.
