First Aid Beauty Pores Be Gone Matte Primer

The First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Pores Be Gone Matte Primer is an oil-free, matte primer that claims to blur the appearance of pores and grip makeup for long-lasting wear. As someone with newly oily skin, I’ve been looking for a primer that will keep me matte all day. I love the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, so I was excited when I came across this primer. At $28, it’s a pretty good deal as well. The Hello FAB Pores Be Gone Matte Primer is also vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free, which is also a plus.

Thoughts

Okay, now for my initial thoughts. I applied the Ultra Repair Cream, and then the primer, as I usually would apply my makeup. I then started in on my foundation, my usual Hourglass Vanish Stick and CoverFX Power Play combo, and instantly did not like how it was looking. My foundation was going on patchy and just looked really bad in general. Then when I went to wipe it off to start over, the results were not pretty. My skin was really red and I had itchy bumps all over. I wish I would have thought to take a picture of my skin in the moment so I could show you what I am talking about. Anyway, that was the first and last time I used it. I am not sure what caused my skin to not like this primer as most of the reviews online are positive, but I am now on the hunt for another mattifying primer.

During my research, I found that Salicylic Acid (an anti-acne agent) can be bad for sensitive skin. Maybe that is the reason my skin freaked out when it came into contact with this product. If anyone has any suggestions on good mattifying primers, let me know. I am always willing to try something new.
